Playing Style

Unlike most Link-based strategies that treat Normal Monsters as disposable starter fodder, World Chalice actively builds around three Normal Monsters — Beckoned by the World Chalice, Chosen by the World Chalice, and Crowned by the World Chalice — each carrying a different Type and Attribute, a combination that directly enables the Link-2 Ib the World Chalice Priestess and keeps the engine self-sufficient. The typical gameplan begins with Imduk the World Chalice Dragon, which only asks for a single Normal Monster to summon and then grants an additional Normal Summon for a World Chalice monster that turn. That extra summon feeds into Lee the World Chalice Fairy, who searches any World Chalice monster on arrival. From there the deck can climb into Auram the World Chalice Blademaster or set up a Synchro Summon of Ib the World Chalice Justiciar by treating one of the Normal Monsters as a Tuner, which then searches a World Legacy spell or trap.

What ties the deck together is how aggressively it recycles itself. Nearly every Extra Deck member — Auram, both versions of Ib, Imduk, and Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior — returns a World Chalice monster from hand to field when sent to the graveyard. World Chalice Guardragon can revive a Normal Monster from the graveyard into a zone a Link Monster points to, keeping the chain of summons alive. World Legacy's Heart recovers two graveyard monsters at once and doubles as graveyard disruption insurance for linked monsters. Ningirsu rewards a board of linked World Chalice monsters with card draws, making going first a strong preference, as the deck can establish both a protected Ib the World Chalice Priestess and hand advantage before the opponent has a chance to respond.
