Playing Style

The Puppet archetype spends and refills its hand through a deliberate exchange economy, most visible in Puppet Pawn's direct-attack trigger, which fetches Promotion from the Deck, and its graveyard effect, which searches any EARTH Warrior at the cost of handing the opponent a free search of their own. That concession is not a liability so much as a design feature — Puppet Queen can Special Summon herself from the hand the moment the opponent adds a monster from their Deck to their hand by any means other than drawing, turning the opponent's search into an immediate free body on your field.

From there the combo chain tightens quickly. Puppet Rook arrives through Promotion, which sends a Level 3 or lower EARTH Warrior such as Puppet Pawn to the graveyard in exchange for a higher-Level recruit from the Deck, with a bonus ATK and DEF boost scaled to the size of the opponent's graveyard. Rook then acts as a compulsory redirector, forcing every opponent's attacker into it, and can swap itself out for a Level 6 or higher EARTH Warrior from the graveyard mid-attack, which is precisely where Puppet Queen has been setting up. Puppet Shark gives the strategy additional reach by excavating four cards and converting the top hit into a hand addition or an immediately activatable set trap, letting the deck refuel mid-sequence without committing additional Normal Summons. Service Puppet Play extends the Gimmick Puppet Xyz thread, offering temporary monster theft scaled to the number of Xyz Monsters controlled and a graveyard banish effect that can revive an Xyz from either player's graveyard.
