Opponents facing a Number deck rarely get to use their own Extra Deck safely. Number 1: Infection Buzzking strips a card from the opponent's Extra Deck on summon and recycles their graveyard as its own material over subsequent turns, while Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal locks all opposing attacks into itself and steals a monster every time the opponent activates an effect on the field. The experience from the other side of the table is one of steadily shrinking options.

The deck reaches these threats through layered Xyz toolboxing. Number 39: Utopia Rising recovers a Number Xyz Monster directly from the graveyard upon being Special Summoned, passing its own materials across to reinforce whichever monster it retrieves. Number 101: Silent Honor ARK - Soul Asylum extends the hand by searching Level 4 monsters of matching Type and Attribute, or simply absorbs an opposing monster as additional material. For going-second scenarios, Numbers Eveil offers an all-in route, combining four Number Xyz Monsters from the Extra Deck into a fifth whose number value equals their sum, arriving on board fully loaded with material.

Numbers Protection underpins the defensive layer, functioning as a counter trap that negates and destroys any spell, trap, or monster effect while a Number Xyz Monster is present, and recurring itself from the graveyard whenever a Number monster is destroyed. The restriction on Numbers Eveil — preventing non-Number Special Summons while its product remains face-up — means the deck commits fully to its own ecosystem, making consistent access to a varied Number lineup across multiple ranks the central practical demand the strategy places on deck construction.
