Nordic Ascendant

Nordic Ascendant cards exist to flood the field with bodies and level manipulation so the deck can reach its Aesir Synchro monsters as quickly and efficiently as possible. Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant is the engine's centrepiece: her ability to send any Nordic monster from the Deck to the Graveyard adjusts her own Level on the fly, letting a single Normal Summon set up almost any Synchro combination the board requires. That same send primes the Graveyard for Mimir of the Nordic Ascendant, who returns to the field at the start of each Standby Phase by discarding a Spell, providing a recurring Tuner presence that keeps Synchro lines open across multiple turns.

Gullveig of the Nordic Ascendant ties the early setup together. Link Summoning her off any low-Level Nordic monster allows the player to banish up to three cards from hand or field and replace them with that many Nordic monsters Special Summoned directly from the Deck in Defence Position. The restriction that follows — limiting Special Summons to Aesir monsters for the rest of the turn — is not incidental; it is the intended payoff, pointing the entire sequence toward resolving one of the Aesir boss monsters the same turn Gullveig hits the field.

Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant offers an alternative route on turns where the opponent already has a board. Summoned into an empty field against a populated one, she banishes two Nordic monsters from hand to produce a pair of Level 4 Einherjar Tokens, giving the deck immediate Synchro material without committing to the Gullveig line. Because Gullveig's explosive search effect locks the player out of non-Aesir Special Summons, sequencing these individual tools correctly matters considerably.
