Meklord Army

Playing Style

The Meklord Army archetype distinguishes itself from typical swarm strategies by deliberately destroying its own monsters to generate advantage. Meklord Army Deployer Obbligato exemplifies this: its Main Phase effect destroys itself to pull two other Meklord Army monsters directly from the Deck in Defence Position, immediately flooding the field with bodies while restricting subsequent Special Summons to Machine types. Once Obbligato hits the Graveyard, a second effect arms the player with burn potential, dealing 100 damage per Meklord monster controlled at the End Phase.

The three core army members each contribute differently to the board state. Meklord Army of Granel punishes the opponent on Normal Summon by halving a face-up monster's ATK, softening incoming threats before battle. Meklord Army of Skiel replaces itself when destroyed by battle, keeping the swarm alive through attrition, while its passive ATK boost scales with the number of Meklords present. Meklord Army of Wisel grants piercing damage to a fellow Meklord's attack, converting the Defence Position monsters that opponents often hide behind into direct damage opportunities.

The Resolute Meklord Army ties the aggression together by making all Attack Position Meklord Army monsters immune to destruction by battle, though at the cost of negating their own effects. The deck therefore asks the player to manage which monsters sit in which battle position at any given moment, toggling between protected attackers and effect-active contributors depending on what the situation demands.
