Playing Style

Infernity is one of the few archetypes in the game that demands an empty hand before it can do almost anything meaningful. The majority of its members carry conditions that read "if you have no cards in your hand," making the act of emptying one's hand not an unfortunate consequence but the prerequisite for the entire strategy. Cards like Infernity Barrier and Infernity Break become live only at zero hand size, while the Synchro monsters Infernity Doom Dragon and Infernity Doom Archfiend double or extend their combat output under the same condition. The deck therefore races to discard its hand as quickly as possible, using tools like Infernity Inferno to pitch cards directly to the Graveyard and Infernity Launcher to convert that Graveyard into a stream of Special Summons.

Once the hand is empty, the engine sustains itself through recursive Graveyard effects. Infernity Necromancer revives any Infernity monster each turn, Infernity General banishes itself to return two lower-level members simultaneously, and Infernity Mirage tributes itself to pull two targets back at once — all feeding Synchro plays without requiring new draws. Infernity Pawn preserves the empty-hand state during the Draw Phase by replacing the normal draw with a deck search or a Void Spell or Trap Set directly from the Deck.

Going first is generally preferable, as setting Infernity Barrier alongside a face-up attacker creates a hand-trap-negating disruption that costs the opponent a card entirely. The deck's reliance on the Graveyard, however, makes it acutely sensitive to banishment-based disruption, since removing key recursion targets like Infernity Necromancer or Infernity General from play can stall the loop before it gains momentum.
