Playing Style

Unlike most Synchro or Xyz strategies that commit to one summoning method, Virtual World pursues both simultaneously, treating Level 3 and Level 6 monsters as interchangeable building blocks for either Rank or Synchro plays depending on what the board demands. The archetype's monsters share a self-Special Summon condition — targeting a Virtual World card already on the field, then sending a Virtual World card of a different type from the Deck to the GY — which lets each successive summon thin the Deck while loading the GY with resources. Virtual World Xiezhi - Jiji recovers a monster at the End Phase, Virtual World Mai-Hime - Lulu adds a spell or trap to hand, and Virtual World Kirin - Lili can send two cards in a single activation, meaning a single starter can chain into a sequence that floods the field with Level 3 and Level 6 bodies.

From those bodies, the deck reaches Virtual World Beast - Jiujiu and Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen on the Synchro side, or Virtual World Phoenix - Fanfan and Virtual World Tiger - Fufu through Xyz summons. Kyubi banishes anything sent from the field to the GY, which shuts down a wide range of removal effects, while Phoenix - Fanfan answers opposing threats by banishing a face-up card alongside a card in either GY. Virtual World Gate - Chuche and Virtual World Gate - Qinglong extend the deck's reach into the GY and the banished zone during later turns, recycling discarded pieces back into relevant plays. Because the combo line is largely self-contained and produces disruption on the first turn, the deck strongly prefers going first, though Virtual World City - Kauwloon can produce an immediate flood of Extra Deck monsters in the right circumstances.
