The Weather

The Weather is a Fairy archetype whose most unusual mechanical feature is that its monsters do not inherently possess Quick Effects — they borrow them. Each Canvas Spell or Trap card grants a Quick Effect to any Weather Effect Monster occupying the same column or either adjacent column in the Main Monster Zone, meaning the abilities available to a given monster shift entirely depending on where it is placed and which Canvases are currently face-up. The Canvases themselves cover a broad range of disruption: Rainy Canvas bounces an opponent's Spell or Trap, Thundery Canvas returns a battling monster to the hand, Snowy Canvas searches any Weather card, Auroral Canvas redirects a hand addition, and Rainbow Canvas negates a Spell or Trap activation when granted to a monster through The Weather Painter Rainbow.

Setting up those Canvases is the engine's first priority. The Weather Painter Snow and The Weather Forecast each place a Canvas from the Deck directly into the Spell and Trap Zone on the turn they are used, while Thunder can convert any face-up Continuous Spell or Trap into a fresh Canvas fetch. Once a Canvas is consumed to activate an effect, the monster that used it is banished rather than destroyed, then returns to the field during the following Standby Phase via the self-recursion clause shared across the entire monster lineup. This loop lets the deck rebuild its board without relying on new draws, and Aurora reinforces that durability by protecting all face-up Weather Spell and Trap cards from targeting and destruction while she remains on the field.

The Weather Painter Rainbow caps the endboard by negating Summons outright, and Moonbow supports it by temporarily banishing opposing monsters and reviving banished Weather monsters when it hits the field. Because so much of the deck's potency depends on columns aligning correctly and Canvases surviving to the opponent's turn, the archetype rewards careful placement and generally favours a going-first approach that allows the full grid of Canvases to be arranged before the opponent can mount a response.
