Tenpai Dragon

Playing Style

Tenpai Dragon wants to resolve a direct attack with Sangen Kaimen, the archetype's key Continuous Spell, which grants every FIRE Dragon monster the ability to attack directly while a face-up Spell is on the field. Once that effect applies, the deck stops trying to out-resource the opponent and simply crashes through for game. The entire Main Deck is built to make that moment possible, with Paidra searching Sangen Kaimen or other Sangen Spells and Traps on summon, while Chundra and Fadra snowball the board by generating additional monsters mid-combat.

The deck's most distinctive feature is how aggressively it uses the Battle Phase as a combo step. Chundra can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower FIRE Dragon from the Deck at the start of the Damage Step, Fadra revives a monster from the Graveyard under the same trigger, and both of them carry Quick Effects that allow an in-Battle-Phase Synchro Summon. The result is a string of attacks that continuously replenish the board, making it very difficult for the opponent to stabilise once the Battle Phase begins. Fadra also blankets the whole team with battle destruction immunity, so the attacking monsters survive even when they run into larger threats.

Genroku adds a layer of hand consistency, Special Summoning itself as a Tuner when searched and then trading itself away to pull any Tenpai Dragon from the Deck. The archetype is almost entirely a second-player strategy, committing very little to the field during the Main Phase and instead aiming to dismantle the opponent's defences before unleashing an explosive Battle Phase the opponent cannot easily interrupt.
