Sylvan

Sylvan decks are built on a mechanic unique among Plant strategies: excavation. Rather than simply sending cards from the deck to the graveyard, Sylvans excavate the top cards of the deck and trigger secondary effects depending on what is revealed. Every major monster in the archetype carries two abilities — one that fires when the card is in play or summoned, and one that fires specifically when that card is itself excavated from the deck and sent to the graveyard. Sylvan Marshalleaf destroys a monster, Sylvan Komushroomo destroys a Spell or Trap, Sylvan Flowerknight stacks a Sylvan card to the top of the deck, and Sylvan Princessprout can revive itself at a declared Level — meaning the deck's explosive turns come from engineering chains of these buried triggers rather than from conventional hand advantage.

The deck sets up its excavations through several overlapping engines. Mount Sylvania puts any chosen Sylvan card on top of the deck before an excavation fires, letting the player select which trigger to land. Sylvan Charity provides draw power while returning Sylvan cards to the top, feeding future excavations. Orea, the Sylvan High Arbiter extends plays by bouncing opponent's cards each time excavated Plants hit the graveyard, and Sylvan Sagequoia special summons itself from hand whenever any Sylvan monster is sent to the graveyard, providing immediate bodies for Xyz plays.

Because the core loop depends on stacking and then excavating the top of the deck, the archetype rewards careful sequencing and suffers when its deck-stacking pieces are disrupted early.
