Playing Style

Simorgh builds around Tribute Summoning large WIND and DARK Winged Beast monsters while progressively locking the opponent out of their Spell and Trap Zones. The archetype's lower-level birds — Simorgh, Bird of Bringing, Bird of Beginning, and Bird of Calamity — generate advantage on Normal Summon by searching cards, sending to the GY, or granting an additional Normal Summon, funneling resources toward the deck's high-Level monsters. Simorgh, Bird of Perfection accelerates this further by triggering an extra Normal Summon from hand and searching a Simorgh Spell or Trap upon its own Summon. The field spell Elborz, the Sacred Lands of Simorgh reduces Tribute costs and provides yet another free Normal Summon, making it a priority search target early in the turn.

Once the opponent's Spell and Trap Zone is empty, the lower-level birds can recur themselves from the GY for free, creating a self-sustaining loop that enables repeated Tribute Summons. Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty caps the end board by Special Summoning a Winged Beast from the Deck during the End Phase, with the Level of the target scaling directly with how many Spell and Trap Zones remain unused. Dark Simorgh permanently prevents the opponent from Setting any cards, cementing the Zone-denial strategy and punishing backrow-dependent decks heavily.

Simorgh, Lord of the Storm and Simorgh of Darkness provide reactive disruption through Quick Effect tributes, while Simorgh Sky Battle offers a mass-bounce finisher. The deck is strongest going first, establishing floodgate pressure before the opponent can establish resources, but can struggle against opponents who establish monsters before the Zone-lock takes effect.
