S-Force

Facing an S-Force deck means navigating a battlefield divided into invisible corridors. Every S-Force monster imposes a different restriction on whatever enemy monster shares its column — opponents may find their monsters locked out of activating effects, unable to change battle position, forced to redirect attacks toward a specific target, or banished the moment they leave the field under S-Force Gravitino. The priority, then, is not simply summoning monsters but placing them in precisely the right columns to trap as many of the opponent's pieces as possible beneath overlapping penalties.

The engine assembles quickly. S-Force Gravitino searches any S-Force card on summon, while S-Force Signify grabs any S-Force monster from the deck and can net a free draw if an opponent already occupies the same column. S-Force Nightcatcher retrieves Spells and Traps from the deck when summoned, and S-Force Nightchaser — the Link-1 starter — provides a pivot point for shuffling monsters back and recovering banished ones. S-Force Edge Razor extends the board further by summoning a second S-Force monster from hand on arrival. Together these pieces funnel into the Link-3 monsters: S-Force Justify, which forcibly relocates an opponent's monster into one of its linked zones before banishing it at the start of the Damage Step, and S-Force Mystify, which blocks targeting and Special Summons while a monster shares its column.

The deck skews toward going first, wanting its column-locking grid established before the opponent can position freely. Hand costs are a genuine consideration — Orrafist, Rappa Chiyomaru, and Lapcewell all demand banishing S-Force cards from hand to trigger their disruptive effects, though S-Force Retroactive, S-Force Chase, and S-Force World Sorting each offer ways to satisfy those costs without depleting usable resources.
