Raidraptor

The card Raidraptor most wants to resolve is Raidraptor - Force Strix. From the moment it hits the field, it searches any Level 4 DARK Winged Beast from the deck, immediately extending the hand and setting up every follow-up play the strategy has available. Nearly every Main Deck monster in the archetype qualifies for that search, which means Force Strix does not just pay for itself — it directly assembles whichever piece is missing for the next Xyz Summon.

Getting to Force Strix is straightforward because the lower-level monsters are built to generate their own momentum. Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius Special Summons a second Raidraptor from the hand the moment it is Normal or Special Summoned, providing an instant pair of Level 4 monsters without spending additional cards. Raidraptor - Fuzzy Lanius compounds this further: it self-Special Summons beside any existing Raidraptor, then replaces itself from the deck when it hits the graveyard, meaning the player rarely runs out of bodies. Raidraptor - Tribute Lanius sends any Raidraptor card from the deck to the graveyard on arrival, loading resources for later stages, while Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius and Raidraptor - Noir Lanius adjust the Levels of monsters already on the field to reach the Rank required for whichever Xyz comes next.

That ladder of Ranks is the defining characteristic of the archetype. Rank-Up-Magic Spells — recovered by Raidraptor - Brave Strix and recycled by Raidraptor - Necro Vulture — allow the deck to climb through Rank 5 and Rank 6 threats such as Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon - Air Raid, which destroys a monster and deals damage on Xyz Summon, up toward the nearly impenetrable Raidraptor - Final Fortress Falcon at Rank 12. Because so much of the engine self-replenishes through graveyard and banish recovery, disruption that cannot stop the initial Normal Summon often proves insufficient to prevent the climb entirely.
