PSY-Frame is one of the few archetypes in the game that actively wants an empty field on its own side. Each PSY-Framegear — Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon — triggers from the hand when the opponent makes a specific move while the PSY-Frame player controls no monsters, instantly Special Summoning itself alongside PSY-Frame Driver from the hand, Deck, or Graveyard. That single condition is the entire engine: keep the field clear, hold the right Framegear, and respond to whatever the opponent does. Gamma is the most commonly seen, negating and destroying a monster effect on activation, while Beta stops an attack outright and ends the Battle Phase.

Because PSY-Framegear monsters and Driver are banished at the End Phase, the real payoff is assembling them into a Synchro Monster through PSY-Frame Circuit before that window closes. PSY-Framelord Omega is the most impactful result, able to repeatedly phase itself out of the field to strip a random card from the opponent's hand each turn. PSY-Framelord Zeta offers a removal option by banishing an opponent's Attack Position monster alongside itself temporarily. PSY-Framelord Lambda allows Framegear effects to fire even while the player controls monsters, which unlocks the archetype considerably and generates extra searches whenever a Psychic monster it controls is banished face-up.

The deck's dependence on controlling nothing means conventional monster-based setups work against it rather than for it, so sequencing decisions carry unusual weight. PSY-Frame Multi-Threader eases the Graveyard setup and can protect PSY-Frame cards from destruction, giving the deck a small but meaningful resilience tool alongside PSY-Frame Overload's face-down banishment and recurring search.
