Playing Style

The Possessed archetype takes an unusual approach compared to most Spellcaster-based strategies: rather than keeping its monsters on the field, it actively wants to cycle them into the graveyard. Each of the four Awakening of the Possessed monsters — Gagigobyte, Greater Inari Fire, Nefariouser Archfiend, and Rasenryu — self-summons by sending a Spellcaster and a Level 4 or lower monster of the matching Attribute to the graveyard, then triggers a second effect when it is itself sent from the field to the graveyard, searching out either an Attribute-specific Spiritual Art card or a Possessed Spell or Trap. The deck therefore advances its resources through destruction and replacement rather than accumulation, generating card advantage through a deliberate chain of exits.

Setting up those summons is handled largely by Possessed Destiny and Possessed Partnerships. Destiny recruits any Charmer or Familiar-Possessed monster directly from the Deck by matching its Attribute to a card already on the field, establishing the two-monster condition the Awakenings require. Partnerships then recovers a Spellcaster with 1500 DEF from the graveyard and can destroy a face-up card if multiple Attributes are present, rewarding the Attribute variety the Awakenings naturally generate.

Spiritual Power Recovery Potion adds a burst of offensive momentum, banishing spent Spellcasters and Spells from the graveyard to pump the ATK of every monster the player controls, then recouping life points on top. Its second effect can flood the board with differently Attributed Spellcasters from the hand in a single Main Phase, providing the material for multiple Awakening summons in one turn.
