Nephthys

Nephthys distinguishes itself from other Ritual archetypes by treating self-destruction not as a cost to grudgingly pay but as a recurring engine. Rather than protecting its pieces, the deck deliberately demolishes them — Defender of Nephthys destroys a card in hand to Special Summon another Nephthys monster, Disciple of Nephthys destroys a hand card to search a Nephthys monster from the Deck, and Conductor of Nephthys, once tributed or destroyed by a Nephthys effect, schedules the destruction of up to three more Nephthys cards across the hand, Deck, and field on the following Standby Phase. Each of those destroyed cards then triggers its own delayed resurrection or search effect, so a single Main Phase can set off a chain of Standby Phase payoffs that stretches across several turns.

The flagship monsters reward this behaviour generously. Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys returns from the Graveyard and wipes every Spell and Trap on the field when it does. Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, brought out through Rebirth of Nephthys, can destroy Nephthys cards on the field to clear an equal number of opposing monsters, then revives itself if destroyed. Dark Nephthys contributes Spell and Trap removal on Special Summon. Nephthys, the Sacred Flame consolidates Ritual Monsters used in its Link Summon into stacking layers of battle immunity, effect immunity, and attack-targeting protection, giving the deck a formidable endgame presence in the Extra Monster Zone.

Because so much of the deck's payoff is delayed until the Standby Phase, Nephthys tends to favour going first, establishing the destruction triggers in Main Phase 1 and collecting their benefits before the opponent can mount a response. Nephthys, the Sacred Preserver accelerates recovery on the following turn by searching a Level 8 Winged Beast and recovering a Ritual Spell from the Graveyard, keeping the cycle of destruction and revival turning continuously.
