Millennium

6 cards in this archetype

Playing Style

The deck's entire gameplan is built to resolve Millennium Ankh, a Normal Spell that requires five Forbidden One pieces shown across the hand, Deck, and face-up field before Special Summoning The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate from the Extra Deck. Rather than assembling all five Forbidden One cards in hand, the deck spreads them across zones and lets Millennium Ankh do the accounting, meaning the combo is live even when most of those pieces are still sitting in the Deck.

Getting to that resolution relies on the archetype's distinctive placement mechanic. Every Millennium monster can park itself in the Spell & Trap Zone as a face-up Continuous Spell straight from the hand, and several can then Special Summon themselves back to the field at a cost of 2000 LP or by revealing a Millennium Ankh. Shield of the Millennium Dynasty searches Millennium Ankh directly when it surfaces this way, while Sengenjin Wakes from a Millennium fetches any Millennium monster to extend the chain further. Golem that Guards the Millennium Treasures adds Wedju Temple on arrival and crucially prevents the activation of Millennium Ankh from being negated, which addresses one of the most direct ways the combo could be interrupted.

Fiend Reflection of the Millennium and Maiden of the Millennium Moon occupy the reactive half of the engine, both flipping back to the field whenever the opponent activates a card or effect. Maiden's protection clause shields Level 5 or higher Illusion and Spellcaster monsters from targeting effects for the remainder of the turn, giving The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate a measure of cover on the turn it arrives.
