The effect Mikanko most wants to resolve is the damage redirection shared by every monster in the archetype: when one of its creatures is equipped with an Equip Spell and battles, the opponent absorbs whatever damage the Mikanko player would have taken instead. The deck reaches that state by rapidly accumulating Equip Spells and attaching them to Ha-Re the Sword Mikanko, Hu-Li the Jewel Mikanko, Ni-Ni the Mirror Mikanko, or one of the Ritual monsters, with each successful equipment trigger drawing out further pieces. Ha-Re searches a Mikanko Equip Spell the moment any Equip Card lands on it, Hu-Li fetches a Mikanko Trap under the same condition, and Sanaki the Mikanko Devotee recruits any non-Illusion Mikanko directly from the Deck once it receives an Equip Card of its own. Mikanko Kagura, the archetype's Ritual Spell, adds a punishing bonus clause by destroying opponent's cards equal to the number of differently named Equip Spells in the GY and dealing 1000 damage per destruction, making even the setup phase lethal over several turns.

Heavenly Gate of the Mikanko locks the opponent into attacking only equipped monsters, which are indestructible by battle and redirect all damage, so the opponent's attacks accomplish nothing except accelerating the life-point loss. Ni-Ni sharpens this further by stealing an opponent's monster during their own turn as a Quick Effect while equipped, turning the opponent's strongest attacker against them. Mikanko Reflection Rondo extends that theft angle by permanently equipping itself to an opponent's monster and seizing control of it, denying its effects simultaneously.

The deck is naturally strong going first, establishing Heavenly Gate alongside an equipped Mikanko before the opponent can develop a board, but Mikanko Promise, Mikanko Fire Dance, and The Great Mikanko Ceremony each supply emergency bodies and Equip Spells at speed, giving the deck meaningful recovery options when forced to play from behind.
