Playing Style

The Mask archetype trades life points freely and recovers them through tempo rather than healing, making LP a renewable stake rather than a protected resource. Mask of Brutality costs 1000 LP each Standby Phase to keep an equipped monster's ATK boosted by 1000, and Mask of Dispel drains the opponent's LP by 500 per Standby Phase while locking down a face-up Spell. Mask of the Accursed compounds that pressure by preventing an opponent's monster from attacking while bleeding its controller for 500 damage per turn. These Continuous and Equip Spells accumulate damage across multiple turns, grinding the opponent down rather than ending the game through a single dramatic push.

The deck's heaviest threats are its Level 8 Fiends. The Masked Beast arrives through a Ritual Summon using Curse of the Masked Beast, requiring Tributed monsters totalling Level 8 or more from the hand or field. Masked Beast Des Gardius demands a harder condition, requiring at least one Grand Tiki Elder or Melchid the Four-Face Beast among the two Tributes, but rewards that investment by fetching The Mask of Remnants directly from the Deck upon leaving the field, potentially stealing an opponent's monster outright.

Mask of Darkness shores up the trap suite by flipping to recover any Trap from the Graveyard, keeping tools like Mask of Restrict and Mask of Weakness available for repeated use. Mask of Restrict is particularly punishing when resolved on the right turn, shutting off all Tribute activity for both players and stranding any strategy that depends on it.
