Magistus

Magistus distinguishes itself from other Spellcaster strategies through its equip mechanic: Extra Deck monsters are not simply Summoned and attacked with, but slotted directly onto field monsters as Equip Spells, each granting a passive bonus or a disruptive effect depending on which card is equipped. The goal is to stack these equipped Extra Deck pieces onto a single monster, then leverage that loaded board state to grind through the opponent's resources or push for decisive damage. Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity illustrates the payoff clearly — upon Synchro Summon it immediately equips another Magistus Extra Deck monster to itself, and then locks the opponent out of activating effects that share a card type with whatever is sitting in the Spell and Trap Zone.

Setting up that board typically begins with Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame, whose first effect equips any Magistus Extra Deck monster directly from the Extra Deck to a friendly monster, often pulling Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden into the Spell and Trap Zone. Artemis in turn searches any Magistus monster from the Deck while equipped, feeding further extension. Rilliona, the Magistus of Verre searches Magistus Spells and Traps on Normal or Special Summon, making her the preferred starter for finding Magistus Theurgy or Trismagistus to maintain momentum across turns.

The archetype also carries meaningful going-second tools. Aiwass, the Magistus Spell Spirit can equip itself to an opponent's monster as a Quick Effect, seizing control of that monster and negating its effects simultaneously. Rilliona, the Wondrous Magistus Witch Wardrobe, once equipped to a monster, can negate an opposing Effect Monster's effects for the turn, giving the deck interaction even after establishing its own board.
