Facing a Magikey deck means watching your own monsters become liabilities. Almost every Extra Deck summon and disruption the archetype produces is keyed to Attributes — specifically, matching the Attribute of a monster your opponent controls to one already in the Magikey player's graveyard — which means the more monsters an opponent fields, the more tools Magikey gains to punish them. Magikey Dragon - Andrabime can erase every monster of a matching Attribute in one shot, Magikey Deity - Ashtartu banishes a matching monster outright during the opponent's Main Phase, and Magikey Fiend - Transfurlmine destroys any matching monster the moment it is summoned.

The engine assembles through a combination of Normal Monsters and dedicated Magikey cards. Magikey World searches a Magikey monster on activation and later fetches Magikey Maftea, which itself handles both Fusion and Ritual Summoning in a single card. Maginificent Magikey Mafteal adds a free Normal Summon and recycles a graveyard monster, helping the deck cycle through its pieces efficiently. Because Magikey Maftea can send a Normal Monster from the Deck to the graveyard as material, the deck seeds its graveyard with the Attributes it needs before committing to an Extra Deck summon, ensuring its disruption effects are already live on arrival.

Where the strategy occasionally struggles is against low-monster or monster-light boards, since the Attribute-matching triggers require something to match against. Magikey Unlocking partially compensates by allowing the controller to declare an Attribute and force all opposing monsters to adopt it, but the deck is naturally more threatening when the opponent has committed resources to the field.
