Playing Style
The Magician Girl archetype aims to end its turn with Kiwi Magician Girl's protection layer active, leaving the opponent facing a board of Spellcasters that cannot be destroyed by card effects or targeted by them. Reaching that state typically begins with Berry Magician Girl, whose Normal Summon searches any Magician Girl from the deck. From there, Berry can respond to an attack or targeting attempt by switching battle position and Special Summoning a second Magician Girl directly from the deck, chaining together a small but resilient cluster of monsters. Lemon Magician Girl supplements this by tributing a fellow Magician Girl to search any Spellcaster from the deck, giving access to powerful non-member Spellcasters that fill gaps in the line-up.
Once multiple Magician Girls are assembled, Kiwi can be discarded from the hand to pump the entire board by 300 ATK and DEF for each uniquely named Magician Girl across the field and Graveyards, while simultaneously blanketing the team in effect protection. Chocolate Magician Girl adds staying power by discarding a Spellcaster to draw a card and, when attacked, reviving any Spellcaster from the Graveyard while halving the attacker's ATK. Apple Magician Girl performs similarly on defence and recovers up to three Magician Girls from the Graveyard when destroyed, making the deck difficult to deplete over a prolonged game. Because so much of the engine triggers during the opponent's battle phase rather than the player's main phase, the archetype is naturally suited to a reactive, grinding style that accumulates advantage as the opponent attempts to push through the board.
