Kaiju decks can generate meaningful disruption from a single card in hand, since every main-deck Kaiju can be Special Summoned directly to the opponent's field by tributing one of their monsters — no setup or prior board state required. That single-card removal is the deck's entry point, and everything else extends from it. Because the tribute strips away whatever problematic monster the opponent has built their strategy around, Kaiju decks thrive going second, where they can dismantle an established board before pressing with their own attacker.

The engine deepens through Kaiju Counters, which accumulate primarily via Kyoutou Waterfront as cards leave the field. Once enough counters are gathered, each Kaiju's built-in effect becomes available: Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju locks the opponent out of activating cards for an entire turn, Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju negates and banishes a card outright, and Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju wipes the opponent's entire monster zone. Interrupted Kaiju Slumber accelerates the gameplan further, clearing the field while simultaneously deploying two different Kaiju monsters from the deck and doubling counter generation.

Super Anti-Kaiju War Machine Mecha-Thunder-King addresses one of the archetype's structural tensions: after giving the opponent a powerful monster, getting rid of it is essential. Mecha-Thunder-King handles this by discarding itself to banish the loaned Kaiju and recovering a monster from the graveyard in the same action, turning what was a liability into a net-positive exchange. The Kaiju Files adds further flexibility by allowing any Kaiju on the field to be replaced with a different one from the deck, keeping the counter engine churning while adapting to whatever the current game state demands.
