Iron Chain

Playing Style
Facing an Iron Chain deck means watching your graveyard fill at an uncomfortable pace. The archetype pursues victory through deck destruction, steadily milling the opponent's cards until they run out of draws and lose by an empty deck. Every piece of the strategy feeds into this same pressure: Iron Chain Snake equips itself to an opponent's monster, shaving 800 ATK and DEF off it, and when that monster is eventually destroyed in battle, its controller mills cards equal to its Level straight from the top of their deck. Iron Chain Dragon, the main Synchro of the archetype, compounds this by sending the top three cards of the opponent's deck to the graveyard every time it inflicts battle damage, and can temporarily pump its own ATK by banishing Iron Chain monsters from the graveyard to push that damage through.
The deck can also apply this pressure without attacking at all. Poison Chain, a continuous spell, triggers during the End Phase on any turn the player chose not to attack, milling cards equal to the number of face-up Iron Chain monsters on the field. This lets the archetype threaten a passive, grinding route to an empty deck even when the board state discourages combat. Iron Chain Repairman supports consistency by recurring any Level 4 or lower Iron Chain monster from the graveyard, keeping bodies available to field for Poison Chain counts or Synchro fodder, while Iron Chain Blaster offers a secondary pressure valve by trading a monster for 800 direct damage, giving the deck a supplementary way to finish games that stall before the mill completes.
