The hand is the fuel Invoked runs on and constantly works to replenish. The central engine is simple: Normal Summon Aleister the Invoker, search Invocation, then use Invocation to Fusion Summon an Invoked monster by banishing material from either player's graveyard. Because Invocation can later be shuffled back from the graveyard by targeting a banished Aleister the Invoker and returning it to hand, the deck recovers its key spell turn after turn. Magical Meltdown reinforces this by searching Aleister the Invoker on activation and making the Fusion Summon immune to negation, meaning the first summon almost always resolves.

What makes the archetype adaptable is the range of Invoked Fusion Monsters, each requiring Aleister the Invoker alongside a monster of a specific Attribute. Invoked Mechaba offers hand-cost negation, Invoked Cocytus is untargetable and indestructible by card effects, Invoked Caliga throttles both players to a single monster effect per turn, and Invoked Purgatrio swings through an entire board with piercing damage. The Book of the Law extends this flexibility mid-game by tributing one Invoked monster to immediately Fusion Summon another of a different Attribute, cycling through whatever the board state demands.

Because graveyard access is so central to Invocation's recursion loop, heavy banishing disruption from cards like Dimensional Fissure can slow the deck's recovery considerably. Aleister the Reminiscent partially addresses this by banishing an Invoked monster from the Extra Deck to search another copy of Invocation or a related spell, giving the deck a redundant search path that does not rely on the graveyard at all.
