The board Hieratics want to present at the end of their first turn typically includes Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres sitting in the Extra Monster Zone backed by Hieratic Sky Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis as a negation body, with the graveyard stocked with Dragon-Type Normal Monsters ready to feed further plays. Reaching that setup is a matter of chaining tribute effects together: Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit drops for free when the opponent has a monster, becomes a tribute for Hieratic Dragon of Su or Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet, and each tributed Hieratic replaces itself by summoning a Dragon Normal Monster from the deck. That cascade of replacements generates the Level 8 materials needed for Heliopolis while simultaneously filling the graveyard for Hieratic Dragon of Asar and ultimately Hieratic Dragon of Sutekh, whose once-per-turn banish-to-destroy gives the deck a persistent removal threat.

Hieratic Dragon King of Atum adds another dimension by pulling any Dragon directly from the deck when overlaid with a second Level 6, letting the player reach Sutekh's banish requirement or set up a second Xyz body. Hieratic Seal of Convocation ensures the hand stays stocked, and Hieratic Seal of Supremacy provides an extra special summon to bridge gaps in the combo. Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres ties it all together as both a combo extender and a disruption piece, returning an opponent's card to hand during their turn by tributing a monster — a trigger that simultaneously replaces itself with another Dragon from the deck, making the Link-2 extremely difficult to out cleanly without also walking into more material generation.
