Playing Style

What sets Heroic Champion apart from most Warrior-based Xyz strategies is that its endgame monster, Number 86: Heroic Champion - Rhongomyniad, scales in power directly with how many materials were used to summon it. With five attached materials, Rhongomyniad locks the opponent out of Normal and Special Summons entirely while carrying a once-per-turn board wipe, making it one of the more punishing going-first setups available to a pure Warrior deck. Reaching that five-material threshold requires stacking Level 4 Warriors efficiently, so the deck invests heavily in Warrior-type searchers and Special Summon effects to flood the field before overlaying everything into a single overwhelming Xyz.

Supporting Rhongomyniad is a suite of more modestly resourced Champions. Heroic Champion - Excalibur doubles its own ATK for an extended window, while Claivesolish forces all attacks onto itself and can drain an opposing monster's ATK to bolster its own during combat. Kusanagi covers a different angle, negating Trap Cards on activation and gaining ATK each time it does so, which gives the deck a measure of resilience against backrow-heavy strategies. Gandiva addresses Special Summon-heavy opponents by popping incoming low-level monsters for a single material cost.

Magnum Excalibur adds a layer of flexibility late in the game, either doubling its ATK mid-battle or equipping itself to another monster to grant a 2000 ATK boost, and its graveyard effect lets the deck recover spent Warriors back into the deck to sustain further plays. Jarngreipr rounds out the toolbox by protecting Warrior monsters from a single destruction each turn while also recovering a Rank or Level 4 Warrior from the graveyard, helping the deck rebuild after an exchange.
