Dracotail's main deck monsters each pull a specific thread in the opening sequence. Dracotail Lukias, a Level 4 Spellcaster, searches any other Dracotail monster on Normal or Special Summon, giving the deck a reliable entry point into its hand. Dracotail Phryxul then extends that setup by reviving a Dracotail monster from the GY on summon, bouncing one monster back to the hand in the process — effectively loading the hand with material for the Fusion Summons that follow. Dracotail Faimena and Dracotail Mululu round out the engine as Quick Effect Fusion enablers, with Faimena able to pitch itself to Fusion Summon any Dragon or Spellcaster Fusion, and Mululu triggering a Dracotail Fusion Summon at speed while also negating an opponent's monster effect when used as material.

The Fusion Monsters demand at least one hand monster as material alongside a Dracotail monster, which the bounce effect on Phryxul and the Arthalion summon condition actively exploit. Dracotail Arthalion bounces opposing cards equal to the number of hand materials used, while Dracotail Gulamel destroys a card each time a Dracotail card or effect is activated — a trigger that fires repeatedly given how frequently the archetype chains its own effects. Every non-Fusion Dracotail monster also Sets a Dracotail Spell or Trap from the Deck when used as Fusion material, steadily accumulating Dracotail Horn, Flame, and Sting as disruption tools.

All three Fusion Monsters share a self-resurrection clause that triggers whenever two or more monsters hit the GY simultaneously, letting the deck recover quickly from board wipes and continue pressuring the opponent through attrition.
