Playing Style
Despia rarely needs more than a single card to begin threatening the board. Aluber the Jester of Despia searches any Branded Spell or Trap the moment it hits the field, and that one search typically cascades into a Fusion Summon on the same turn. Despian Tragedy compounds this by fetching any Despia monster from the Deck whenever it is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect, meaning the act of using it as Fusion Material becomes its own form of extension. Guiding Quem, the Virtuous adds further redundancy by milling Fallen of Albaz or any card that mentions it, then reviving it whenever a card leaves the Extra Deck — a trigger that Despia produces constantly.
The deck's primary output is a field of high-Level Fusion Monsters that punish the opponent for playing the game normally. Masquerade the Blazing Dragon taxes the opponent 600 LP per activation, a cumulative drain that turns ordinary turns into resource problems, while Despian Quaeritis can instantly reduce every monster below Level 8 to zero ATK during the Main Phase, clearing the way for direct pressure. Ad Libitum of Despia and Dramaturge of Despia both recycle themselves when sent to the Graveyard as Fusion Material, ensuring the deck can repopulate a disrupted board with minimal investment.
Going first, the deck establishes Fusion bodies backed by the tax effect of Masquerade; going second, Quaeritis's blanket ATK wipe and Despian Proskenion's ability to steal or banish the opponent's Extra Deck monsters give it credible tools to break established fields.
