Playing Style

The end-board Chimera aims to present is a pair of Fusion Monsters whose names both read as "Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast" while on the field, backed by the recovery tools to threaten a follow-up even after the opponent clears them. The two Fusion monsters, Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts and Berfomet the Mythical King of Phantom Beasts, share that name substitution, which unlocks the GY effects of Chimera Fusion and keeps the engine self-sustaining across multiple turns.

The setup hinges on Chimera Fusion, a Quick-Play Spell that Fusion Summons using a Beast or Fiend monster as material. Chimera the King of Phantom Beasts, when Fusion Summoned, schedules a random discard from the opponent's hand at the End Phase, generating card advantage through disruption. Berfomet's Fusion Summon effect instead sends a Beast, Fiend, or Illusion monster from the Deck to the GY, loading the resources needed for its own Quick Effect, which banishes Berfomet from the GY during the opponent's turn to Special Summon a banished monster of those types.

Once Chimera Fusion reaches the GY, it can either recover itself or banish itself to simultaneously Special Summon both Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts and Berfomet from the Deck or GY, effectively rebuilding the entire combo from almost nothing. This recursive loop means the deck punishes any opponent who trades resources one-for-one, since almost every interaction the opponent makes simply primes the next chain of revival effects.
