Chemicritter

Playing Style

Vola-Chemicritter Methydraco sitting on the field with two Gemini monsters beneath it is what this deck works toward. While Methydraco carries Xyz Material, all Gemini monsters the controller has become untargetable by both attacks and card effects, and every subsequent Normal Summon of a Gemini monster forces the opponent to send a card from their hand or field to the Graveyard. That combination of blanket protection and hand disruption is what the deck uses to grind opponents down turn after turn.

Reaching that position hinges on the three Level 2 Chemicritters working in concert. Carbo Crab searches and mills Gemini monsters once it has been double-summoned to unlock its effect, stocking the Graveyard for Hydron Hawk, which can then Special Summon a Gemini monster back from that Graveyard at the cost of a discard. Oxy Ox rounds out the engine by Special Summoning a Gemini monster directly from hand and synchronising Levels across the board, creating the two Level 8 bodies needed to Xyz Summon Methydraco. Dimer Synthesis ties the setup together, either fetching Catalyst Field or grabbing both Burnout and a Chemicritter in a single activation.

The Poly-Chemicritters provide important redundancy at the top of the curve. Dioxogre, once active, fires off targeted destruction by banishing Gemini monsters from the Graveyard, while Hydragon keeps the board intact by redirecting destruction away from fellow Gemini monsters. Because almost every effect in the deck requires the double-summon step to come online, the archetype strongly prefers going first, where it can establish Methydraco before the opponent has an opportunity to interrupt that second Normal Summon.
