Battleguard is a Warrior archetype that trades the typical graveyard recursion loops of its peers for a battle-combat engine that pushes monsters back to the hand rather than destroying them. That distinction matters because effects that trigger on destruction are simply bypassed: Battleguard Rage, attached to any Warrior on the field, grants 1000 ATK and ensures that anything it runs over is returned to the opponent's hand, stripping them of resources without triggering "when destroyed" conditions.
The deck establishes its board through Battleguard Cadet, a Level 1 that searches Feast of the Wild LV5 on summon and can tribute itself to drop a Level 8 Warrior directly from the hand, making Battleguard King accessible without a conventional two-tribute investment. King then turns surplus Warriors into additional attacks in the same Battle Phase, letting a full field translate into repeated pressure across a single turn. Lava Battleguard and Swamp Battleguard reinforce each other's ATK whenever both are present, and Battleguard Echoes ties the package together by fetching a Level 5 EARTH Warrior on activation and searching either Rage or Howling whenever a monster is bounced from the field.
Battleguard Howling completes the interaction suite, punishing targeted attacks or monster effects by dealing damage equal to a chosen opponent's monster's original ATK before returning it to the hand. Combined with Echoes triggering on those same bounce events, the archetype generates a self-reinforcing loop where successful combat and defensive responses alike feed into further searches and disruption.
