Playing Style
Atlantean decks spend their hand deliberately, using the graveyard as a second resource pool that powers further plays. The archetype's central mechanism is a shared trigger: whenever an Atlantean monster is sent to the graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect, it fires an additional ability without cost. Atlantean Dragoons searches any Sea Serpent from the deck when discarded this way, Atlantean Heavy Infantry destroys a face-up card the opponent controls, and Atlantean Marksman picks off a set card. Chaining these triggers together from a single discard outlet lets the deck strip the opponent's board while refilling its own hand simultaneously.
Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince accelerates this loop considerably. Its first effect sends any Atlantean from the deck to the graveyard and adds a different Atlantean card to hand, meaning a single Normal Summon can load Dragoons into the graveyard to trigger its search while Neptabyss itself adds a second piece. Poseidra, the Storming Atlantean supplements this by sending an Atlantean or Mermail to the graveyard on summon and bouncing an opponent's card, extending the chain of triggers further.
The deck's endgame tends to resolve through Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon, which can be special summoned by tributing three Level 3 or lower WATER monsters and wipes all spells and traps from the field on arrival, potentially draining the opponent's monsters of significant ATK. Call of the Atlanteans recovers three small Sea Serpents from the graveyard at once, making that tribute straightforward to assemble even through disruption and giving the deck meaningful comeback potential going second.
