Playing Style
Amorphage decks are built to put Amorphactor Pain, the Imagination Dracoverlord on the field, a Ritual Monster that prevents the opponent from Special Summoning from the Extra Deck for as long as it remains face-up. Every other decision the deck makes flows from reaching that board state. Amorphous Persona is the primary route there, letting the player Tribute Pendulum Monsters from the hand or field whose combined Levels equal exactly 8 before Ritual Summoning Pain directly. The Amorphage Pendulums cover a wide spread of Levels — Gluttony and Lechery sit at Level 2, Envy, Greed, Pride, and Wrath at Level 4, Sloth at Level 6, and Goliath at Level 8 — giving the deck flexibility in which monsters it sacrifices to satisfy that requirement.
While assembling the Ritual Summon, the archetype maintains pressure through its Pendulum Scales. Each Amorphage Pendulum carries a lockdown clause that activates the moment the player controls any Amorphage monster: Lechery shuts off Spell activations, Greed blankets Traps, Gluttony silences monster effects, Envy cuts off chain links beyond the first, and Sloth prevents any search that is not a draw. Stacking even two or three of these in the Pendulum Zones creates a suffocating environment in which the opponent can barely respond. Amorphage Infection replenishes the hand whenever an Amorphage is Tributed or destroyed, sustaining the Standby Phase tribute cost that each Pendulum Zone card demands, while Amorphage Lysis recovers destroyed Pendulum cards directly from the Deck to keep the scales intact.
The deck strongly favours going first, as the lock pieces need to be established before the opponent can disrupt them. Once Pain hits the field alongside even one active Pendulum Scale, many Extra Deck-reliant strategies are effectively neutralised before they begin.
